Don't miss the historical Old Port shopping district on Portland’s waterfront. With its cobble stone streets and brick Victorian buildings, the Old Port is a great way to take in some local Maine history. The Old Port also features a wide range of restaurants, specialty shops, and boutiques. Be sure to stop in Longfellow Books located on Monument Way. They have a great selection of contemporary and classic books and a wonderful kid's room. Historic Sites/Museums
Visit the historic Tate House. Built in 1755, the Tate House is now a museum which offers visitors chance to experience life in the 18th century. Having survived the destruction of Falmouth during the Revolution and the fires that devastated Portland, Tate House is the only pre-Revolutionary home in Greater Portland open to the public.
